Bing decodes JayZ

Jay-Z's got a new book coming out called Decoded. To launch it the pages have been hidden in significant locations around NYC. This blur between on and offline will build hype and interest around the book. It's also a great way to give fans a little taster of the contents of the book itself.

Illuminated Bookmark

Lightleafs is an illuminated OLED bookmark concept designd by designer Valentina Trimani that provides a light source for reading in the dark. The Lightleaf is as thin as a page in a book and runs wirelessly, allowing you to take it everywhere your favorite literature goes. This incredible bookmark is even rechargeable with a brightness control to turn it down so that it won’t disturb others nearby.

Point the finger

Nice little book mark idea that has a hand with a movable pointing finger so that you never lose where you read up to (because that can be really annoying and waste precious seconds)

It's Nice That

We regularly check the neat design blog that is 'It's Nice That'. And you should too

The guys behind it have also just released a bi-annual book featuring more of the same kind of stuff and it is well worth checking out.

This ia great idea - create icons by wrapping the spines of books. Not something I could ever be bothered to do, but looks great. If you speak foreign, read more here

Kyle Bean made this cool art piece called 'the future of books' from an old charity shop book.

Some nice other bits on his site too.
