"Refait"

A remake of the football WorldCup match between France and Germany (Seville, Spain, 1982). Shot by Pied La Biche in Villeurbanne (France), every aspect of the fifteen last minutes of the match was carefully reconstructed : players, positions, gestures, intensity, drama etc. It consists in shifting the traditional game area into the urban environment. Each sequence takes place in one or several locations and then the city temporarily becomes the lab for unsual experiments. The soundtrack is made up of the original commentaries mixed with interviews of the audience recorded during the shooting.

Sam Winston plays with words

You may have already seen Sam's work... it's awesome. I went to college and used to live with Sam. He's a top top man. I think he'd call himself a book artist but not sure. He's dyslexic - which is why he has fascination with words. His work is some of the most intricate and labour intensive I've seen. Bravo.

I'm going to try and persuade him to come in and do a UTI.

Check his site as you really need to read the background to each.

But here is his Dictionary Story - where words in the dictionary get pissed off with only being referred to so go a bit mad and create a story by re-ordering themselves - with some beautiful typography thrown in for good measure.

Here is his latest WIP - He's cut out every word from a book of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, split them into 3 and re-presented the play in 3 collages based on different emotions - Passion, Rage and Indifference.

Two media owner campaigns

Don't usually like talking ads on here, but here are two different ways of promoting a medium that caught our eye...

First up it's CBS outdoor with these straight up but beautifully written long copy ads for the tube. Not sure who wrote them, but hats off.

Next up is this mysterious piece from Posterscope. I'd seen these about for months and never bothered to check it out.

When I searched for it it took me here

All well and good but I'm none the wiser until I check out these blogs here and here

I'm not writing any more about it - read the blogs I linked to... but this is the blurb from Posterscope: "When you see an Out-of-Home ad and then follow it up online, you’re Oohgling. Out-of-Home advertising is great at creating interest and intrigue and that’s often followed up with an on-line search to find out more."

Guess we'll see more and more of this kind of stuff as traditional media owners have to prove why they should be in the mix.
